Trip Highlights

Trek into the impenetrable forest at dawn: Guided by expert UWA rangers, push through ancient undergrowth in search of one of Bwindi’s habituated gorilla families.

One magical hour with the gorillas: Sit within metres of silverbacks, mothers, and playful juveniles — sharing 98% of our DNA, their gaze is unforgettably human. A UWA permit guarantees this encounter.

Afternoon: forest birding & photography: Bwindi hosts 350+ bird species, including the African green broadbill and Shelley’s crimsonwing, paradise for birders and photographers alike.

Batwa cultural experience: Meet the Batwa pygmies, the original forest custodians, and hear their ancient bond with the jungle through storytelling and song.

Village walk & conservation talk: Visit a local community project supporting gorilla conservation through sustainable livelihoods; coffee farming, craft cooperatives, and eco-tourism.

Sundowner on the lake: Watch the sun drop behind the Kigezi hills from a canoe or lakeside terrace — a spectacular close to a packed day.

Trip Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival

After arriving at the airport or hotel, our professional English-speaking tour driver-guide will greet you and transfer you to Queen Elizabeth National Park, a top destination in Uganda. Along the way, you’ll pass through diverse ecosystems teeming with wildlife, including chimpanzees, over 600 bird species, and big game. You’ll stop for lunch en route and arrive at the park in the late afternoon. After checking in and relaxing, you might have time for a late afternoon or evening game drive, depending on your arrival time.

Day 2 Game Drive & Launch Cruise in the Queen Elizabeth National Park

You’ll start your day early with breakfast, then head out for a thrilling morning game drive in the Kasenyi plains. Keep an eye out for Cape buffaloes, elephants, lions, leopards, and more. After a morning of wildlife spotting, return to your accommodation for some well-deserved rest and lunch. In the afternoon, you will embark on a scenic 2-hour boat trip along the Kazinga Channel, which links Lakes George and Edward. Expect to see hippos, elephants, crocodiles, and a variety of bird species along the water’s edge. After the boat trip, you’re free to choose: either head back to the lodge to unwind or squeeze in a late afternoon game drive before returning to relax. Overnight: The Baboon Safari Resort

Day 3 Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Ishasha

You’ll start your day with a leisurely breakfast, then head to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, renowned for its tree-climbing lions. While spotting them is possible about 60-70% of the time, it can be challenging when they’re hunting in the grasslands. If you’re lucky enough to see them lounging in the trees, it’s a breathtaking sight. From Ishasha, you’ll drive to the edge of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, where you’ll check into your accommodation and unwind for the evening. The next day’s gorilla trekking adventure awaits. Overnight: Rushaga Gorilla Lodge

Day 4 Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi

You’ll start your day with breakfast before heading to the rangers’ post for a briefing on trekking guidelines. Then, you’ll venture into the breathtaking Bwindi Forest, where dramatic landscapes and dense foliage give way to animal trails. As you track gorillas, the terrain and time required will vary. Once you’ve located a group, you’ll have an unforgettable hour with these gentle giants. Afterward, you’ll head to Lake Bunyonyi, surrounded by lush hills and dotted with 29 enchanting islands, offering breathtaking views. Overnight:  Heritage Lodge, Habuharo

Day 5 Departure from Lake Bunyonyi and Return to Entebbe International Airport

You’ll start your day with a leisurely breakfast at your accommodation, taking in the breathtaking views of Lake Bunyonyi’s tiny islands. After breakfast, you’ll begin your journey back to Entebbe Airport. You’ll enjoy lunch en route and stop at the Uganda Equator line mark in Kayabwe for photo opportunities and to browse local art pieces. You’ll continue your journey, arriving at the airport late afternoon or evening, with a recommended departure flight time of 6:00 PM or later.
